My legs are screaming for a break after many hours of strolling around the city. I'll be taking the the rest of Sunday to relax, so to keep you company, here's today's Cooldown, a quick gloss of the interesting things I found throughout the week:
How I felt when ChatGPT was down this week:Trust me, all my work plans for that morning went down the drain 🤣 Quote that pretty much sums up everything I learned in therapyWhen you deeply understand that all situations change, you cling to everything less. You appreciate the things that are enjoyable, and you are not troubled when they end. You face challenges when they arise, but you know that no storm lasts forever. Letting Go Is Your Path to Happiness by Yung Pueblo If you've managed to learn the same just from reading the quote alone, then I've saved you thousands of dollars of therapy. You're welcome 😀 The best articles I read this weekThis is My Most Expensive HabitAnxiety - it's my most expensive habit too. It doesn’t cost a single dollar, but it’s robbed me of countless hours I could’ve spent being at peace in those very moments I needed them. Rigorous thinking: No lazy thinkingI'm gonna share a real example of this tomorrow but what frustrated me a lot my previous jobs was that lazy thinking at work would often be the default. For better or worse - my hyperactive mind just can’t sit still; I am always thinking and anything that would force me to NOT think would cause me a lot of suffering. I'll say that rigorous thinking isn’t prioritised enough nowadays, not in schools, not in general. Social media acting as a constant distraction also makes lazy thinking the norm which I hope will be reversed sometime in the next decade. Maybe new AIs will pop up everywhere and we'll be forced to think and communicate with our devices instead of just scrolling on them. Nicholas Ng |

Better late than never, as they say. I’m getting close to 100 consecutive daily emails now, and if there’s one lesson this streak has taught me, it’s that starting late might not be perfect, but it’s still better than not starting at all. I’m also juggling a busy and heavy period with work and...

The other day, I got a call from yet another unknown number. I panicked for a moment thinking back to the time my old workplace called me while I was shopping for groceries. But I wasn’t that busy this time, so I picked up out of curiosity, An automated voice answered me: “Hello, I’m from JobStreet, and your resume has been approved…” 🤮 I hung up immediately, but I wish I had let it ramble on because it would have given me great email fodder to write more stories. Still, scams like these make...
