My weekly football game yesterday felt like it had a bad omen written all over it from the start. Not just a, 'oh this might suck kinda bad'... But more of a, 'all of you lot better be careful cause the grim reaper is lurking around'. ☠️ Not only did we lose two footballs this time round. Which in itself is a miracle because we play in an international school field with TEN-metre high fences as a perimeter. Meaning, you would have to be an absolute nuthead to kick a ball so hard & high up for it to fly OVER a ten-metre fence for it to be gone forever. .. .. .. Ehem.. Oh umm... Right 😅 .. .. .. I WAS ONE OF THOSE NUTHEADS YESTERDAY!! 🤦🏻.. .. .. Oi! .. Hey you! ... Yeah you!! .. .. STOP GIVING ME THOSE LOOKS!! 👀 In my defence, it was a dominating defensive clearance to protect my goal that forced to me to do that. As one of my old football coaches used to say: "When in doubt, kick it I think he would have been proud of that. Now, as if the two missing footballs weren't enough: Two of my mates had to leave early injured—one with a sprained ankle and another with a broken foot bone 🤕 Like cmon, was it Friday the 13th yesterday?! Them getting injured was a mood-killer for sure. Even in the most intense of games, you never wish for anyone to get hurt. I am writing from my balcony today injury-free so I got away somewhat from yesterday's shenanigans. Phewwwwww 😅 Not completely, however. The grim reaper made sure to leave his mark on me before our game ended. And he knew where to hurt me most.... Not my ankles—despite having broken 3 bones and torn 2 ligaments there over the years. Not my head—cmon, it's the the indestructible thing protecting the brain that writes these emails :p No no... The grim reaper didn't even go for below-the-belt punch this time. He went for the absolute jugular 🔪 AND WENT STRAIGHT FOR MY WALLETThat son of a b@#$% decided to rip up my left boot 😢 But that's not all. He didn't even make it a clean kill by completely ripping it apart, which would have forced me to go home scot-free. No! He only ripped the sole off halfway that it was still borderline good enough to play, but bad enough that it was completely on my mind rent-free for the whole 90 minutes of our game. UghImagine the psychological torture of having to overthink every step I took worrying that the boot would finally come apart or if I would get injured from it. That little bast#$% knew where to hit me where it hurt. Because now, I gotta go run off and do some early Christmas boot-hunting for myself. But I ain't no Santa, so I don't have a sack over my shoulder filled with football boots in them. I have to go to a mall, and pay real money for a new pair. Which means, I have to make more money by MuahahahaOh umm. Sorry.. Excuse my devious little mind who knows fully well that these emails you're reading are just a long term ploy for you to buy my future coaching and courses 😇 Now that I'm out hunting for a new pair of football boots, I suppose I should really get my products up and running as soon as I can. There's no better motivator to producing the goods when unexpected purchases come up eh? 😉 If my future coaching and course are something you're thinking about for the new year, shoot me a question and let's chat, I promise I won't hurt. Just don't be a nuthead by shooting it more than ten-metres high, please? Nicholas Ng |
I write a daily newsletter about mental health, physical health and productivity. Sprinkled with real time stories from my life, I'm on this journey just as much as you are. See you inside!
Today’s email is going out much later than I’d like - I usually prefer to send them before noon, but I’m at my parents’ place for Boxing Day dinner later, so I’m writing this at my desk in my old room. Better late than never, as they say. I’m getting close to 100 consecutive daily emails now, and if there’s one lesson this streak has taught me, it’s that starting late might not be perfect, but it’s still better than not starting at all. I’m also juggling a busy and heavy period with work and...

The other day, I got a call from yet another unknown number. I panicked for a moment thinking back to the time my old workplace called me while I was shopping for groceries. But I wasn’t that busy this time, so I picked up out of curiosity, An automated voice answered me: “Hello, I’m from JobStreet, and your resume has been approved…” 🤮 I hung up immediately, but I wish I had let it ramble on because it would have given me great email fodder to write more stories. Still, scams like these make...
